Recs Fest / Fest Recs
Jan. 3rd, 2011 03:00 pmBeing the OCD'er that I am, I had this grand plan of catching up on my fest reading in a systematic fashion: you know, reading everything in the order that it had been posted, making recs in carefully-labeled categories. That's how I like to do crossword puzzles, too -- start with 1 Across, then with the next clue and the next, until all the Acrosses are done, and I can start the Downs.
But sometimes I say to myself, "Merlin's Pants!" (or words to that effect). "I'm going to do something shocking. I'm going to claw my way out of my rut and. . .yes. . fill in the crossword out of order!"
And today, I similarly threw caution to the winds and read a bunch of stories, not even just out of order within fests, but out of order between fests. That's right -- I'd read a couple of
hoggywartyxmas stories and then flip over to read some
daily_deviant entries and then some
snapelyholidays and then back to
hoggywartyxmas.
Yes, it's radical, but there you are. New tricks are possible even for us oldish dogs (though don't expect much progress on the procrastination front.)
I continue to be impressed by the talents of so many writers in the HP fandom; the quality of many of these stories is simply outstanding. At least one of the recs below now occupies a spot on my (rotating) Top Five HP-Fics List. And I've still got many, many more stories to read, fest and otherwise.
(Authors' names will be added as reveals occur.)
