We're Ba-a-a-ck!
Jan. 2nd, 2011 06:25 pmWe've made it to NYC, all tires intact. Many of the streets are still a slushy mess a week after the massive blizzard, but we had no trouble driving and even got through the Holland Tunnel in decent time. We've already been to the supermarket (my partner can't drink tea without milk, just as I can't drink it without sugar), the Child and his friend are playing video games, and we're thinking, in a desultory fashion, about dinner. My partner had this idea of trying a "vegetable alphabet": today cooking a veg that begins with "A," tomorrow with "B," etc., but we've run into a snag, namely, that no "A" veggies appear to be in season. The ones we thought of were artichokes, acorn squash, and asparagus, but we couldn't find any. So we're starting with "B" for broccoli.
At least once during this week, I'm going to devote an entire day to nothing but fic-reading. But for now, here are a couple of recs:
Even though I wasn't officially a member of
daily_deviant during the recent Kinky Kristmas fest, I was given a gift all the same. It's a lovely Minerva/Andromeda Black (the first of that pairing I've ever seen) called Witches of a Certain Age. The title is perfect, and so are the characters.
And today, I saw my first fanart featuring Auntie Muriel Weasley. (Scroll down the page a bit).
