There's a peach of a story at the [community profile] femgenficathon today ([info]femgenficathon on LJ).

Called Witch Night, or How the Word 'Snitch' Entered Muggle German, the story is a compelling exploration of the history of lesbians in 1930s Germany and more specifically, of the history of wizarding lesbians (in the persons of captivating versions of Rolanda Hooch and Wilhelmina Grubbly-Plank). The story is by the talented [livejournal.com profile] tetleythesecond, herself a German historian.

I had the pleasure of beta-reading this fic, but there wasn't much I needed to do besides enjoy it. Tetley does an excellent job of incorporating history and politics without making the story seem like a lesson. She's created OCs of depth and complexity, and if all this isn't enough, she writes a fluid, witty prose.

She's one of my favorite writers of HP gen (if you haven't read her Amelia Bones gen [The Camel's Back and Cadence] and her Flitwick gen [Amor Vitae], please do). And in "Witch Night," she's surpassed herself.

ETA: Don't read the comments first; there be spoilers.
