I swear, last week was busier than when school and exams were actually in session. So I am woefully behind in fest reading and flist reading (actually missed a
therealsnape Patented Picspam). But at least I got to look at art!
One of the problems I often have with HP art is that it's too generic; the characters are not particularly "characteristic." A picture of two (or more) entwined naked people isn't really "HP" just because the figures have red hair and freckles or square glasses or radish earrings or a Dark Mark. So I'm always very impressed when an artist is able to make me believe that I'm seeing, for example, not just "naked girl with pink hair," but Tonks.
Both of these excellent artworks really seem to me to embody their characters:

Life Force Depends on Elemental Power (Luna Lovegood/Severus Snape). The level of detail here is exquisite. It makes such sense for Luna to be "elemental" in this way, and the 60s-psychedelic-poster style suits her perfectly. Snape, too, is elemental, and I love the genuinely Snape-y depiction of him: the nose, the stubble, the intense expression, the newt (or whatever it is -- salamander?) that he conjures.
Tomorrow, I hope to bring you some fic recs and maybe an RL update.
And don't forget: today is the last day to leave prompts for the
