In the fourteen or so hours that I have conscious today, here's what I have "accomplished." (pretend those are ironic air quotes indicating that you should question my right even to type the word they enclose):

--a bit of beta reading
--answering school-related emails. On what committees do I want to serve next year? Um, that would be "none." (Not an allowable answer, unfortunately).
--1K written on the Beholder fic, but it remains to be seen if any of it can actually be used. And here I planned to have the damn thing drafted by today. But writing, she is the agonizing thing.
--posted today's femmeslash rec on [livejournal.com profile] crack_broom
--ate takeout Indian food and drank some Chilean wine
--drank a great deal of coffee and tea
--watched a video with the partner and child
--spent about ten minutes thinking about my upcoming academic conference paper

Yes, I realize that this is a pitiful tally is for fourteen hours during which I had no outside demands on my time. I could have gotten to Japan in that time. (If I'd had a plane ticket.)

On the other hand, I've enjoyed myself, and I still have two days off.

Successful spring break day accomplished, then.

I've enjoyed myself.
In that case, much has been accomplished today.
It is, after all, a break.

Also, you have accomplished writing this post, so well done! And you inspired me to go look if Japan has Google streetview - it has! *is off to Japan*

Even without the fact that you enjoyed yourself (the best accomplishment ever, I agree with the other commenters), 1k words, a rec, answering e-mails and deciding on committees *shudders* is not nothing. Nothing would be writing zero words and having too much to eat. (I blame my best friend's birthday, but really, isn't there always something? *g*)

Well, fourteen hours of enjoyment is excellent, isn't it? Besides, you filled them with art, entertainment, intercultural experiences, family time, making your flisties and the crack broom subscribers happy, even work while you're on holiday (which leaves the continental European completely in awe) -- not bad, I'd say.

My humble thanks

You deserve more than two more days - and god willing, NO committees next year !!! Thereby giving you ample time to write your wonderful tales - and find time to hold my hand when I labor through the angst and manic madness of authordom (most likely, not a word). I received your lovey squishy and I'll carry that grin all day !!! Thank you dearest - in the words of the Academy, none of this would be possible without you !!

Does this mean a new chapter is in the making?
Brilliant! I'll quietly check every hour wait for my Author alert, then.

Go ahead and use it. I once answered (when I was employed by the state of North Carolina) the "race" question on something they sent out with "human".

Never heard a word about it, and it felt pretty good.

I'd give it a try -- if that didn't mean I'd get stuck on the committees everyone hates /g/. But it's good advice: I'm going to save it until there's something I'm really desperate not to do.

Love your "race" answer.
