Here's a giant post o' art recs, mostly from the [livejournal.com profile] severusbigbang. I'm still having a fine time reading fics in the fest; I'll have some story recs soon, too, I hope.

But before we get to Sev, here's a pairing that would have had me shouting aloud with glee had I not been out in public when I saw it: Minerva McGonagall / Amelia Bones!

Minerva/Amelia

And now for Severus and friends. Here are my favorites from the arts-and-crafts section of the Severus 50th Birthday Bash --

Come Here by [livejournal.com profile] averygoodun
Chiaroscuro + bare chest + big nose = a Snape sexy enough to make me consider going straight for a night

Severus in Pastels by [livejournal.com profile] bielol
The medium works very well here; the colors and lights and shades (and hair /g/) create a believably fierce and shadowed Snape.

Severus Snape, A Teacher by [livejournal.com profile] bielol
I love Snape's face here.

Animagus by [livejournal.com profile] dickgloucester
A clever, revealing depiction of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Snape. The style reminds me of the 1920s German Expressionists.

Raindrops by [livejournal.com profile] expell_hun
A haunting picture of a lost, shielded teenage Snape; the curtain of rain is a fine metaphor for the barriers Snape erects.

A Peaceful Moment by [livejournal.com profile] expell_hun
Severus asleep

Severus at Work by [livejournal.com profile] shadowycat
Shadowycat uses exquisite detail to show Snape the scholar and Snape the potions maker. The borders and scrolls suggest to me the intricacies of his character.

Property of the Half-Blood Prince by [livejournal.com profile] tudorpot, [livejournal.com profile] camillo1978, [livejournal.com profile] beffeysue
This work is so damned clever: it's a recreation of Snape's potions textbook. The book itself is a triumph, and the schoolboy doodles are priceless. You'll love it. Plan to spend some time here; you'll want to read everything.

You are so right about the Potion's textbook !! This is something so exactly to my heart's delight... so much like a cross-over from the best of my Organic Chemistry- and Botany-books *LOL*; I have to bookmark that one and go back to enjoy it in detail later...

It's really so inventive and fun--and the authors/artists plan to do more entries, they say.

Never mind, I hollered enough for several of us. Not just because of the pairing but also because of the execution. Realistic bodies! Minerva's look and Amelia's glowing cheeks and expression of utter bliss! And Minerva's hair up (a) looks gorgeous and (b) makes sense. Love that look for Amelia, too. That's just about where I pictured her in the butch/femme continuum, never mind the monocle and the briefcase.

I also enjoyed the Snape ones a lot. The styles work excellently. And I bookmarked the last one for a moment when I have lots of time.

Thanks for the recs, I shall now swamp the artists with praise!

I haven't had a chance to examine Min and Amelia in detail yet, since I'm still sitting here in the coffee shop and am trying to be a little circumspect in what I flash on the screen. But I saw enough to know that this one's a keeper. Minerva's hair...yes, indeed.
