World: Hellish. HP Fandom: Great!

Since I just can't with this terrifying and insane world, I am choosing to spend time in the HP world instead, where the madness of a magic snake-man with a fragmented soul seems positively rational compared to the current madness of the Muggles.

And luckily for us all, some great things are afoot in HP fandom the days.

1. First and foremost -- the wonderful sisi_rambles has made a glorious podfic of my Millicent Bulstrode story "Hopeless". You can listen to it at the always-enjoyable hp_podfic_fest, which just finished posting. As always, Sisi does an excellent job of capturing characters' voices and of pacing and emphasizing the lines just exactly as they sound in my head. Give it a try and leave Sisi some lovely feedback.

2. Next -- snapecase is back!

I hope I'll have time to participate this year.

3. Finally, Salt and Pepper Fest is back, too!



So glad the due date isn't until February, when the holiday deadlines will be long behind us.

4. And of course, that most delectable of Yule parties, hoggywartyxmas.

I still have that surreal feeling of waiting to wake up from this nightmare. I still walk around in horrified disbelief and utter betrayal that this huge hideous object of incompetence and cruelty is still rolling, getting bigger and bigger with each thing it crushes, each protection it flattens, each community or right or civility it destroys.

Blessings on all the creative obsessives here in fandom; it's my main avenue of escape right now. Even if I don't post much, I can come here and feel in touch with a saner world that still exists in one form or another and that reminds me of less stressful and more exuberant times.

So, hurrah for fabulous fests! Something to look forward to in the next few months. Long may they wave!
