I can't in good conscience wish you a "happy new year," because I'm pretty sure that the miseries of 2017 will surpass anything that 2016 offered, at least on a public scale. 2016 gave the threat of new and powerful authoritarian regimes driven by ignorance and bigotry; 2017, unfortunately, will bring the reality of them. It's already brought us the continuation of terror.

However. Life will go on, and there will be good things and good people in it.

Among those good people, dear flist, I'm happy to count you. You bring so much pleasure to my life, and I look forward to your continued friendship.
