I received my Remix assignment, and it's going to be an interesting challenge. My recipient has only one fandom in common with me and only a few stories in it, none with pairings I have ever written.
In my early days, I might have been disappointed by these facts, because when I first get into a fandom, I'm always sototally and ridiculously obsessed with interested in my favorite characters that I don't want to write anyone else. But now that I'm more relaxed in both my qualifying fandoms, I can enjoy writing new characters and pairings. So I'm looking forward to this. I'll start reading the stories this weekend.
So tell me, Remix vets -- is it customary for people to write "Dear Remix Writer" letters the way people write "Dear Yuletides"? Do people explain what sorts of stories they like or express a preference for which story they'd like (or not like) to see remixed? Or do you just wait for the fun surprise?
