What is up with Live Journal? Is the Russian mob trying to shut them down again or something?

It takes ages for any pages or comment windows to open -- if they open at all, that is. Half the time, I get a "cannot open page" notice. I know it's not just my computer, because other sites (like DW) are opening fine.

I had a lot of nosy opinions to offer pleasant comments that I wanted to make on all your stories and new comms and end-of-year memes, but the LJ gods are opposed.

Sorry to hear about that! For once I don't have a problem with LJ, but the newest notification glitch was really annoying. I have gotten missing notifications until yesterday, though at least they are coming. Really annoying was that reset of my settings making me miss many entries completely, as they were no longer checked for notifications... I hope it works well again soon for you!
