HP Halloween

For the last four years, one of the highlights of my Halloween has been to participate in the
hp_halloween drabble exchange. This year was the tenth anniversary of the fest, and it was a doozy -- almost 70 drabbles and two bonus arts, all posted in one day. There's quite a fun range of pairings, ratings, characters, and tones. The old-lady quotient was rather low, but Minerva had a good showing, as did some of the older characters. It's always amazing how much story people manage to pack into 200 words.
My fine gift came from the always-excellent
shadowycat (who wrote some of the first Minerva/Severus fic I ever read):
Title: Negotiations
Author:
shadowycat
Pairing/Characters: Minerva/Severus
Rating: PG
So many of my favorite MM/SS elements: banter, competition, mutual regard.
Just a few of the others I enjoyed:
Title: The Dangers of Missing Muggle Studies
Author:
inamac
Pairing/Characters: Minerva, Sybill, Nearly-Headless Nick
Rating: G
You'll enjoy this picture of matter-of-fact Minerva handling Halloween bizarreness with her usual pragmatism. Great details.
Title: The Maiden and the Crone
Author:
pauraque
Pairing/Characters: Minerva/Rose Weasley
Rating: G
I really loved this one -- a taut, beautiful version of the Maiden/Crone trope.
Title: Ghost Stories
Author:
fiery_flamingo
Pairing/Characters: Druella, Bellatrix, Andromeda, and Narcissa Black
Rating: PG
A thought-provoking, well-characterized look at the Black family.
Title: Enough
Author:
westernredcedar
Pairing/Characters: Argus Filch
Rating: G
A poignant, believable look at why Argus enjoys Halloween.
Title: Masquerade
Author:
smallbrownfrog
Pairing/Characters: Fililus Flitwick and the Hogwarts staff
Rating: G
Flitwick FTW! IC and fun.
Title: A Thinking Cap
Author:
donnaimmaculata
Pairing/Characters: Sorting Hat/Hogwarts Castle
Rating: PG-13
An inspired pairing and delightful, well-crafted poetry.
And finally, a double-shot from
magnetic_pole
Title: The One Good Thing
Author:
magnetic_pole
Pairing/Characters: Severus Snape, Eileen Prince
Rating: PG
Poignant and sad and very believable for Severus, whose canon self always lived too much through his fantasies.
Title: Red Sky at Morning
Author:
magnetic_pole
Pairing/Characters: Petunia and Vernon Dursley, Severus Snape
Rating: PG
Again, there's so much story in 200 words, with a very human Petunia.
There are plenty more that I enjoyed, but these should be enough to be getting on with.
