Some Holiday Recs

I've completed my trip safely and now have about an hour till I head out to the train. So here are a few recs. . .more to come in a couple of days.

Bitter Going Down by Anonymous dueltastic (Severus Snape/Aberforth Dumbledore; R)
The perfect title says it all. This is a sharp, insightful, well-written piece of believable characterization, with atmosphere so real you feel you're there.

Hrth'a'tet by Anonymous of_anoesis (Severus Snape, with cameos from Lily Evans, Moaning Myrtle, and the Bloody Baron; PG-13).
A fic at once painful and beautiful. Told in alternating sections of past and present, the story shows us a complex, conflicted Severus as he contemplates the fate of the basilisk from Chamber of Secrets.

One All by Anonymous purplefluffycat (Minerva McGonagall/Rufus Scrimgeour; NC-17)
This story has all the things I like: angst, comfort, long hair, hot sex rooted in character, superb banter, competition, IC characterizations. Rufus is not a particularly nice man here, and yet, you can see his appeal. It's a plausible, wonderfully bittersweet tale.

An evocative, poetic exercise in insightful characterization.

Christmas Cluedo! Minerva sets Severus to playing a game of "hide-the-wand." (Yes, the double-entendre is just what you think. And not.) Wickedly clever and witty.
