Femmefest Recs
May. 18th, 2011 10:22 pmAs near as I can tell,
hp_beholder is winding down -- only a few more posts to go, I think, and here I am, far behind in my reading again. I despair of getting all my recs done, but we'll see. I may get a few more in before the reveals.
femmefest is probably also nearly finished. It's been a smaller fest this year in terms of number of entries and comments -- most of the comment totals remain in the single digits, and some stories haven't even been commented on by their recipients. And there's no old-lady fic this year, sadly; the majority of the stories feature Trio-era characters.
Still, I'm never opposed to some good Pansy/Ginny/Hermione/Luna. I've enjoyed many of the works, so let me rec a couple right now:
Post-Bellum (Pansy/Hermione)
A really clever piece of story-telling art
The Redemption of Mary Magdalene (Rosmerta/Millicent)
This story was my gift. I love rarepairs like this one; the fic gives us an detailed post-war world presented from an interesting perspective: a femmeslash story told from the povs of a variety of males, Slytherin and Gryffindor, old and young.
Tying Luna's Tongue (Luna/Hermione)
I like Luna stories that don't turn her into a crackpot who is defined by her quirks; I prefer a Luna whose Ravenclaw intelligence is clear and whose quirks indicate an intriguing perspective. You'll find that Luna here.
Crazy in Love (Luna/Hermione)
This story is my favorite of the fest so far -- it's clever and well-written, with that smart Luna that I like and a Hermione who is wonderfully and believably IC. The author does intelligent, character-revealing things with the "craziness" motif.
