After mentioning my [livejournal.com profile] snapelyholidays story in my journal entry of yesterday, I realized that I hadn't posted that story here. So let me remedy that oversight forthwith. Even though I was initially convinced that I'd never be able to do justice to the prompt, I ended up being pleased with the story. Snape and Moody bickered in my head the whole time I was writing it.

Title: Of Rhinos and Men
Author: [livejournal.com profile] kellychambliss
Pairing: Snape/Moody
Rating: R
Summary: After recovering from the injuries he sustained in the Shrieking Shack, Severus Snape retires to the Cotswolds, opens an antiques shop, and finds himself in possession of some unusual merchandise. Later he visits Minerva.

My grateful thanks to [livejournal.com profile] therealsnape and her patented "beta-reading-and-hand-holding" service.

Disclaimer: You really think JKR is going to be writing Snape/Moody slash?

The writers at the [livejournal.com profile] severus_shorts fest have come up with yet another jaw-droppingly excellent story. Called No Room for the Weak, this one features Eileen, Severus, and Harry. The plot and the characterizations and especially the language have left me breathless.

I'm running out of superlatives for these stories, so let me just quote a teaser paragraph (Eileen's pov; "he" is Harry):

Blinking, he washed down the wad of bread. His grotesque deliberation reminded her of a snake choking down its prey, the way you could see the creature's outline in the snake's gullet. Thoughts of snakes led to visions of her gangly lad sitting there in Potter's place, long black hair like some Muggle piker with a plug-in guitar, only his throat would be one horrible red mess, and the tablecloth with it.

Though procrastination is often bad news for me, it's good news for you Minerva/Severus fans on the flist. Check out this fun piece of Snape, McGonagall art called "Drinking Buddies".

The artist says she imagines them as secret friends getting together to "bitch about Dumbledore." Wouldn't they, though? I love their world-weary eyes.
