Off the Road Again

Home again at last.  I've been traveling for the last week and just managed to make it back to NYC before today's snowstorm started (and a lovely one it is, too).  I've been catching up on LJs and found the "Ten Things I've Done that You May Not Have Done" meme.  You all are much better traveled and far more linguistically able than I am, that's for sure.  Here are my ten things:

1. At age 16, I attended Roller Derby Training School.  I could try to explain why, but it's easier just to leave well enough alone.
2. I went to see Christo's art installation The Gates today in the snow.
3. I have played a lot of elderly aunts, widows, grandmothers, spinsters, and wackos in community theatre productions.  My favorite roles:  Linda Loman in Death of a Salesman, Ouiser in Steel Magnolias, Lady Croom in Arcadia.
4. When I was in college, I worked as a night manager at Burger King.  I could make a Whopper in six seconds flat, with the correct number of pickles (4), the paper wrap folded properly, and no lettuce scattered all over the preparation boards.
5. I own about 3,500 books.
6. I once owned eight cats.  At the same time.
7. I am the daughter of a woman who knows Kate Mulgrew's husband's first wife's aunt.
8. I won a trivia contest in grad school because I was able to name ten films starring Joan Crawford.
9. I met my adored partner in a Star Trek on-line chat room.
10. I once stayed up for 70 hours straight.  (I believe I have mentioned elsewhere in this LJ that I am a procrastinator.  You would be amazed at how many college term papers you can write in 70 hours.)
