One Down!

At last.  Chapter One of the book is finished (or at least a draft thereof) -- approximately 12,000 words, and it only took three months *g*.  I've had this experience before, of having the beginning of a project take longer than any part of the rest.  It took me 18 months to write the first chapter of my dissertation, and four months to write the other four.  I hope a similar phenomenon occurs this time, although I'm not sanguine.  I have about 12,000 additional words written in bits and pieces of other chapters, too, although I'll have to revise it all.  So.  About 25,000 words down and only 50,000 to go.
