Weekend! (Almost)

kelly_chamblissNot that it's going to be much of a fun weekend for me, what with a required school event on Saturday and a new set of 36 papers to grade plus an honors thesis to read plus the drafts of college entrance essays to read as a favor for a friend's son. Stuff Wot's Happened Since I Posted Last
• I wrote 1700 words on myhoggywartyxmas story today. How many of them will actually survive to the final draft, I don't know. I'm deep in an "I can't write anything decent anymore" funk, but I expect I'll come out of it. (Not that I'll necessarily actually write anything decent, but perhaps I'll at least stop agonizing over it and have a better perspective on things.)

snapelyholidays story that I can't use. Inspiration to write something else has not yet hit.
• I finished my 200-word drabble forhp_halloween -- three days before the deadline! Even if you didn't write for this fest, you ought to join the comm. All the drabbles (about 35 or so) get posted over the course of Halloween night (US time), so basically you have a live-action fest. It's fun to see each new piece appear and to read and comment as other people are reading and commenting.
• I made pumpkin muffins from a Trader Joe's mix. Delicious.
• I spent part of last weekend with an old friend from school. We had an excellent time. The weather was gorgeous, so we took a long walk and went shopping and ate out and sat at the coffee shop and talked pretty much non-stop.
