hp_wankfest stories. The premise of the fest may sound cracky, but don't the name fool you; there's a great mix of tones and approaches. You'll find everything: the serious, the poignant, the comic, the satirical. I loved the range of characters, too, from the usual suspects to fest rarities like like Flitwick, Moody, and Irma Pince.

The Best Kind of Friends Are Golden (Lavender Brown)
Hilarious presentation of Lavender, who is simultaneously rather charming (in her self-absorbed way) and also infuriating. Chances are, you've known girl like this, and she probably drove you as mad as she drives poor Parvati here.
Time Takes It All (Hermione Granger)
A well-done, painful (in a good way) story that features a complex and grown-up version of Hermione, trying to do the best she can with an imperfect life.
(Self)Love in an Elevator (Alastor Moody)
It's a hard call (so to speak), but this story may be my favorite of the fest, with a Moody who is appealing yet every bit as paranoid and irascible as canon demands, and a wanking premise that makes inventive canon sense.
