I can't resist that fun fandom meme going the rounds. So here's mine.

Fandom: Jane Austen

01. The first character I fell in love with: Charlotte Lucas
02. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Mr Collins (for the sheer comic joy of him, moral monster [really] though I think he is)
03. The character everyone else loves that I don't: Mr Darcy
04. The character I love that everyone else hates: Lady Catherine
05. The character I used to love but don't any longer: I used to have kinder feelings toward Elinor Dashwood, but in my last couple of rereadings, I haven't felt as much kinship for her. (Maybe because I now keep seeing her as Emma Thompson, and I just can't quite accept Emma Thompson as her, if that makes sense.)
06. The character I would shag anytime: Charlotte or Jane Fairfax or Mary Crawford
07. The character I want to be like: Mrs Croft
08. The character I'd slap: Mrs. Elton
09. A pairing that I love:  Admiral and Mrs Croft
10. A pairing that I hate: Frank Churchill / Jane Fairfax
11. Favorite character: Lady Catherine

13. My five least favorite characters: Henry Crawford, Frank Churchill, Mr Elton, John Thorpe, Marianne Dashwood
14. Which character I am most like: Mr Bennet
15. My deep, dark fandom secret: If she weren't already dead, I would kill Cassandra Austen (for burning so many of Jane's letters. Privacy be damned; she belongs to the ages).


Fandom: Harry Potter

01. The first character I fell in love with: Minerva McGonagall
02. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Severus Snape.  I always found him interesting, but now I'm really compelled by him. 
03. The character everyone else loves that I don't: James Potter and/or Sirius Black
04. The character I love that everyone else hates: Umbridge (I don't "love" her, exactly, but I find her really interesting; she'll never end up on any of my "do not write" lists.)
05. The character I used to love but don't any longer: Albus (I never actually "loved" him, but I hadn't given him a lot of thought. But now that I have, his sinister, manipulative qualities have taken over my impression of him. So on a human level, I don't like him; as a literary creation, though, he's fascinating.)
06. The character I would shag anytime: Minerva
07. The character I want to be like: Minerva
08. The character I'd slap: Sybill Trelawney
09. A pairing that I love: Minerva/Grubbly-Plank and Minerva/Severus
10. A pairing that I hate: Harry/Draco and Snarry (I don't "hate" these pairings at all; I've read excellent stories about each. But as a rule, they just don't move me; I can't usually feel the power of them.  Probably I should just call them "pairings that don't interest me much.")  If I had to list a pairing I do come close to hating, I suppose I'll steal from therealsnape and say Albus/Minerva, at least as it's often written -- sappy, shallow, like the worst sort of 1950s domestic sitcom.  But like any pairing, it can be done well, too.
