Happy Birthday, TRS!!

I send a million happy birthday wishes to my dear friend therealsnape.

I was going to send you a birthday card by owl, but there was some sort of mix-up at the OPO (Owl Post Office). Instead of collecting my card to take to you, the owl accidentally delivered someone else's mail to me. I've sent it winging back to its rightful owner, of course, but I couldn't resist making a copy (unethical and intrusive, I know, but I couldn't help myself).

If you feel like becoming a partner in my crime, the letter is one you might find interesting:

September 30, 2001

Dear Miranda,

How are you? Fine I hope. I am fine. Thank you for answering my letter.

And thank you and Stephen for sending me such a fun birthday present. I have never heard of Every-Flavour Beans before. They really are every flavor! Pop and Dad helped me eat them, and Pop got a liver one, ewww. I laughed. You are lucky to have such fun and different candy in Scotland.

This was the best birthday I have ever had, because you will never, never guess what happened last night when Pop and Dad took me out for my birthday dinner. It is something really great. YOU WILL NEVER GUESS! Not if you were to try for a hundred years.

So I will tell you: Pop and Dad told me my birthday present is that we (Pop and Dad and I) will come to Scotland for Christmas!! My Uncle Phil is coming with us, too. I don't think you have met him, but he is Pop's brother and he just recently got engaged to a woman from Scotland, Druscilla, she's really cool. So we will meet her family and maybe see you too! Pop says it's two birds with one stone. (He misses you guys as much as I do.)

Dad says to be sure and tell you that we are not expecting you and Stephen to put us up or even visit with us if you are busy. Dad has already made reservations at a hotel in Edinburgh.

But I hope hope HOPE you will not be too busy to visit! It would be so great to see you.

I can't wait until Christmas, can you?

If you feel like becoming a partner in my crime There was a time when one of us (you? me?) berated the other (me? you?) for writing a voyeuristic story - way back, when the world was young and we only knew each other from FF net. But by now I'd say the 'one doesn't do voyeurism' ship has so sailed. So yes, I'd love to be your partner in crime.

They really are every flavor! As Professor Dumbledore could confirm. Pop got off easy, even though he may not think so.

YOU WILL NEVER GUESS! Not if you were to try for a hundred years. Strangely enough, at this time I had a suspicion that turned out to be correct. What would Miranda have thought? And Stephen, once she shared the letter with him?

And of course I'm delighted to read about Adela's good fortune (and happy for the unknown Phil and his Drusilla, too. I'm sure they're delightful, once we get to know them properly.)

Of course we wouldn't dream of expecting Miranda and Stephen to spend time with Adela, Dad and Pop. We would just be utterly, utterly thrilled if they were. And if we got to hear about it. Around Christmas time, perhaps? One lives in hope.

Meanwhile, thank you, my dear, for these lovely birthday wishes and for sharing this bit of correspondence. Why, I'm positively glad of the OPO mix-up. Such a delightful treat.

Adela does hope to have her new journal written by Christmas, but she fears that she may have to wait until the end of January, when her big project deadline has passed. But she's going to do her best!
