2017 Holiday Fandom Post #1
Dec. 21st, 2017 09:54 amI know I said I was going to make lots of posts this holiday season, but of course, I've failed on that front already. In NYC a week so far, and all I've done is a bit of Christmas shopping, a lot of eating, and far too much horrified obsessive reading about the heartless disaster that is government-sponsored wholesale looting the Republican tax bill. (I've howled so much about this outrage on FB that one of my Republican relatives totally unfriended me. Not the kinder "I'll block you but you won't know it" approach. Nope. Banned. Well, she'll be sorry when her three-year-old son grows up in the dystopia that the US will soon become once this bill's ravages take hold.)
Anyway, in the spirit of the band playing while the Titanic went down, it's time for a little holiday cheer instead.
Lots of fandom goodies!!
1. First of all, I've signed up for this fun "comment" challenge at
capitu's journal. You get points for every comment you leave for fic and art. Although in those sorting quizzes, I'm usually either Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, I've signed on for Gryffindor here because they don't seem to have many members at the challenge.
If you haven't already, you should consider signing up. Comments are love! Motivate yourself.

2. And you might as well put your commenting to good use, since you are about to do a lot of it. That's right: the incredible
hoggywartyxmas fest is due to start tomorrow, December 22. Here is your personal invitation. It's the party of the year; don't miss it.
3. Now for a couple of art recs. The incomparable
mywitch generously offered to create holiday art to her flist's prompts. She's been posting one piece a day, and what a treat they are. Her wit and her range of artistic styles and media is beyond impressive. Here are just a few standouts, but really, you should look at them all. (I'll rec my own fabulous gift in a separate post).
Severus and Harry Trimming the Tree
I'm a sucker for old-person fic and art. This beautiful, detailed drawing of aging Severus/Harry tells an entire story in revealing facial expressions and muted colors. Work-safe.
Severus/Hermione and Shag
No, not that kind of shag! Shag the stylized, retro artist. Work-safe.
OMFG
That's what this piece should be called. Imagine if Ronald Searle drew aging Severus, Lucius, and Hermione having a threesome. No, even better -- imagine that
mywitch drew it! With a border of pubic hair. Genius. Definitely NWS.
Eileen and Severus Post-War
I absolutely adore this -- another detailed line drawing featuring a handsome, fierce, creative Eileen and a Severus who sees the beauty in things the world might find unbeautiful. Fantastic. This Eileen is now totally my head canon.
I've received a couple of fine, fine HP gifts from my delightfully-talented friends, and I'll have a separate post for them.
