Do You Know How Long It's Been?
Apr. 9th, 2016 09:55 pmTwo and half weeks! That's how long it's been since I posted on LJ. My inner Gilderoy tells me that's far too long for you to be deprived of my presence, so I come bearing a photographic gift of apology.
To wit. . .I thought you'd all enjoy the sign from a church near my neighborhood:

I didn't know there could be only one Potter, but apparently so.
In other news,
• I finished my taxes! The deadline is April 18, and I am a full eight days early. Plus I get a refund.
• I finally finished my long-overdue fest fic. It was quite a struggle, this one; I had it mostly done for several days and somehow just couldn't bring it home. (Apologies, mods!) But I managed in the end, and I'm reminded about just how much I do enjoy writing fanfic, even when the going ain't easy. I think the problem is just that I no longer have much that I am burning to say in HP fic. But I'm not ready to give it up just yet.
• We had snow today. April 9. Snow. Not much (certainly not as compared to the six inches that the Young Man got at his school), but more than enough. Any snow on April 9 is more than enough, frankly.
• Attention Snape/McGonagall fans -- something fun this way comes. Stay tuned.
• The Young Man voted in his first presidential primary. He was so excited (he's quite the political junkie) that he sent Partner and me a video of himself in the voting booth, pushing that "Bernie Sanders" button (he and I have had our Bernie t-shirts since last July).
No, I don't think Bernie will win the nomination, but I'm thrilled that he's done so well. (I do have some policy bones to pick with him, though -- I think his "free college" plan is flawed and would end up seriously de-valuing higher education if it were to be put into practice as he's describes it. [Not to mention the fact that his plan would put schools like mine out of business in no time.]) But otherwise, Bernie is someone to believe in.
• I am also sorry to see that Trump is faltering. Ideologically, Cruz is far more dangerous in the long run, yet he might be slightly more "electable" in November. Trump's nomination, I think, would make a Democratic victory a lot easier. Meanwhile, the country's descent into total madness continues on all sorts of fronts.
