Roger Daltry sings my theme song: I'm Free!
Yes, my friends, I have been liberated from the chains of academe and fandom. My finals have been administered and graded; my semester grades have been turned in. My Remix fic has been finished and posted (though I expect to tinker further with it this week, before the archive goes live next Sunday).
And just for me, the universe has decided that my first day of freedom will be marked by warm temperatures, sunny skies, fluffy clouds, and soothing breezes. I have forsaken my trusty recliner for a chair out on the deck. I'd make some sangria, but I'm too lazy. Plus, I don't have any fruit.
I have all sorts of end-of-the-academic-year tasks to finish (not the least onerous which will be cleaning off my desk), but those are for tomorrow, at Tara. For now, I am taking the night off.
What will I do? What every good fangirl does on a night off: I hope to catch up on some fanfic reading.
hp_beholder and
femmefest are still posting, and I want to be able at least to start reading them before they finish! I should have a rec post soon.
Meanwhile, here are a few random fun things for you:
1. The Downton Abbey cast talks about Season Five (Fashion note to Mrs. Hughes: less is more, dear. You've got too much going on here. Fashion question to Thomas Barrow: did you just roll in from some all-night bender without time to shave or to properly button last night's clothes?)
2. I've signed up for this. You should consider it, too, if you have time.

My favorite kind of fest -- the chance to win prizes and awards for something I intended to do anyway.
3. In the "But capitalism is so much fun!" department, I give you The Purple Store.
I'm afraid I've been a bad flistie lately: I owe all sorts of comments, and I haven't been saying much. But now that freedom is mine, I'm sure the karma will balance: I can talk to you all the time now. Soon you'll be yearning for those days of Silent Kel.
