I'm sitting in an airport between flights, en route to my conference. The paper is written, the bags are packed, all the school emails are dealt with (and they can just damn well get along without me for a few days!) Partner and Young Man will arrive later tonight. I haven't seen her since Christmas, so I can't wait. (I did see Young Man in February when he came to interview for a scholarship at my school. He got the scholarship, but he won't be coming here; he wants to be somewhere totally on his own, which I fully understand.)
First-World Problem #1
Here's a message to all annoying people in airports -- on those moving sidewalks? Stand right, pass left! If you are a slow walker or someone who prefers just to stand there and be moved along, fine and dandy. . .but do it on the right-hand side and let other people walk past you. Don't just block the whole path. Sheesh.
At the moment, I don't have a problem #2, but I'm sure something will come up.
I'm really looking forward to this conference! The chance to get out of town, see my old friends, buy some more books, eat Indian food. . .yes. True, I have eight senior theses to read, but generally, it tends to be much more fun to do that in hotel lobby bars than in my office.
