New Fic -- Almost

The ASC deadline is fast upon us, and I'm struggling to finish the second-last draft of my JanewayFest story before sending the thing off to my beta for a final polish.

rocky_t is an inspiration to us all.  The good news:  She's given us a SEQUEL to her great Janeway/Picard stories, "Interlude" and "Kindred Spirits."  The bad news:  I can't read it yet.  Why?  Because it's not only a Janeway/Picard; it's also a Janeway, Q.  And why does this mean I can't read the story?  Because that aforementioned JanewayFest story that I'm working to finish is also a Janeway, Q.  If I read Rocky's before I finish mine, I will a) steal from her, or b) be depressed at how much better hers is than mine, or c) a and b.

So I will wait.  But there's other good news:  having Rocky's story to look forward to gives me inspiration to finish mine, parts of which have been causing me all sorts of problems related to believable character motivation and behavior.  I wish these people would just tell me what they want me to do with them!  Usually they do; this time, they've been maddeningly vague.

Ah, well.  We'll see how it goes.  I still have 13 hours and 40 minutes before ASC turns into a pumpkin.
