Techno-Woes, Part II
Apr. 30th, 2004 11:36 pmLife has improved since I posted my tale of techno-woe. To wit --
Just as Alex Voy predicted, the Janeway icon for my LJ has returned as mysteriously as it departed.
AIM now seems willing to accept my previous screen-name again, so I don't have to use the silly "kellyfanfic" username.
It's true that Tripod is still doing its incredibly annoying "redirect" scam, but my dear friend Liz has offered a subdomain, which I may use if Tripod doesn't go back to normal soon. Thanks, Liz!
And classes are over for the semester!! Did you get that? I said, CLASSES ARE OVER. I will miss my students over the summer, but I will not miss the interminable paper grading, the damned meetings, or the three colleagues whom I can't bear.
I do have one element of misery left, though: I was so stressed while I was writing my last LJ entry that I made a spelling error. Twice. I wrote "bandwith" instead of "bandwidth." Now, I know perfectly well how to spell this word, yet I typed it wrong and didn't even notice. I suppose I could go in and fix it, but I think I will leave it there, to make a horrible example of myself. I'm a serious spelling geek; errors freak me out.
Speaking of major freak-outs: the cicadas are coming. My part of the US will soon be inundated with huge, buzzing, red-eyed, flying gross-outs that emerge from the ground every 17 years to mate. There will be literally billions of them. They are low-flyers, too. And slow. And they don't see very well, so they are as liable to fly into you as not.

I think I will stay indoors for the next two solid months.
