Nuggets of news from the recliner. . .

• Because I'm sure you want to know: It's snowing here for the first time this winter. Hate the stuff.

• Prompt-claiming has begun at dysfuncentine, an anti-Valentine's Day fest for stories about dysfunctional relationships. The prompts are PRIME, and I'm not just saying this because I had a manic moment (okay, a manic hour) and posted 19 of them. There are nearly 140 in total, and many feature the OLSB and their old-man friends.

• Mark your calendars -- Sign-ups for the incomparable hp_beholder begin on January 26.

• Maggie Alert! Rumor has it that Maggie Smith is going to be in the next James Bond movie, Skyfall, along with Ralph Fiennes, Helen McCrory, and yes. . .Judi Dench.

• Tomorrow will be a madly busy day, but I have Saturday completely free. That's right -- nothing that I absolutely must do. No papers to grade yet, no major reading to do, and I've decided that everything else can be put off. The uncleaned closets and the unwritten professional articles have been uncleaned and unwritten for this long, so there's no reason they can't just wait a little longer. What am I going to do with my day off? Well, expect some LJ/DW spam, dears.

Hmmm. It depends a great deal on my progress with my hp_nextgen_fest fic by the time sign-ups close, but I might sign up for hp_beholder. I've never participated before, have only written any of those characters as side characters, and I'm always looking to write something I've never written before.

I ship Bond/M so hard (at least for Craig/Dench - god, they flirted like mad for the press when the first one came out). I read that summary on the IMDB page, and what I got out of it was that it's all about the angsty Bond/M.

I cannot read Dysfuncentine prompts, partly because a) I can't comment on the comm with OpenID (shortcoming of the new commenting form), and b) it makes me want to go start writing really unhappy shit. :)

One of my problems with Dysfuncentine is that I keep wanting to have basically hopeful endings. . .

Angsty Bond/M -- sounds perfect.

It doesn't seem like hopeful is totally undoable within the confines of the fest, so long as one is sufficiently unhappy for the duration of the story. :)

MNAH! Daniel Craig is one of those men who keeps me from falling right off the Kinsey scale. I've loved watching him interact with (the desperately hot) Dench!M, and the addition of RFiennes and holyeffdameMaggie to the cast will be utterly delightful. With luck, this will yield femslash opportunities aplenty.
