Yes, that's right, it's time for the Harry Potter holiday fests to begin. No matter what your favorite genre/pairing, there's something for everyone, and many fests start posting tomorrow, December 1.
I admit that I would feel better able to enjoy Opening Day if I had finished all my writing obligations, but I'm still working on Kinky Kristmas (1300 words so far). I'm one of those OCD people who can't fully enjoy a pleasure if I have screwed up the schedule I set for myself. But I'm doing my best to finish soon. I've toyed with the idea of not letting myself read any fics until I finish KK, though I doubt I have that much self-control.
What sort of delights do we have to look forward to? Well, I'm planning to follow
•
snapelyholidays
•
hoggywartyxmas (starts Dec. 25)
•
hp_holidaygen
•
snapecase (starts Jan. 1)
And --

I'll probably also check in on
smuttyclaus and
mini_fest, though they are less likely than the others to have any older-women or teacher fic.
And of course, I'll look forward to any flist recs from whatever fests you all are watching.
To help get you in the festing mood, I'll rec two fine storiesthat are the fruits of my procrastination that I've read recently; my thanks to the excellent
igrockspock for pointing these out:
Stiff Upper Lip by
pyreneeees.
A nicely-characterized piece of Augusta Longbottom gen.
Afterward, also by
pyreneeees.
A poignant post-war story with sharp vignettes of several rarer characters: Minerva McGonagall, Dennis Creevey, Pansy Parkinson, Stan Shunpike, Percy Weasley, Cho Chang.

Date: 2011-12-01 04:31 am (UTC)While I don't feel I need to be done to enjoy the fruits of the ficathon season, I do feel that it's sort of unkind for it to start before I feel prepared, and I don't feel prepared.
