HP Goldenage Recs

I wasn't able to read hp_goldenage before reveals went up, but I've made my way through most of the entries now (full disclosure: I did not read any Next-Gen or H/D). The fest was small and excellent; you can't go wrong with any of the works. The authors/artists all have a good grasp of the emotional and physical issues of aging. And such intriguing plots, too, from the vials of memories that Hermione leaves after her death, to Ron and Hermione taking a second chance on love, to a Castle that won't let Minerva retire, and more. Lots of my flisties participated, and I'm honored to have such good writers/artists as friends.

The Same Age by pauraque (Hermione, Ron, Harry)
My favorite of all my favorites in the fest, this story is beautifully written and perceptive, with expert characterizations and gorgeous imagery. The prompt was one of mine: "OMG! I'm the same age now as [X] was when they. . ." I was really pleased to see that it had been picked, but I could never have imagined how brilliantly pauraque would realize it. A treat of a fic.

Chasing the Sun by sdk (Ginny/Pansy, Ginny/Harry)
Painful and poignant, this fic deals with the costs of time and familiarity. No villains here, just well-written, believable life.

Old Friends by digthewriter (Luna, Hermione [art; work-safe])
Beautifully older, still beautifully Hermione and Luna.
