rarepair_shorts Summer Wishlist Event.
I participated in the Wish List in summer of 2009 (my early days of fandom), and it was great fun -- no pressure, no obligation, short fics. You can submit a wishlist without committing to write any stories. Deadline -- July 17. (Check out the 2009 masterlist for many great fics.)

Maggie Smith was nominated for an Emmy for Downton Abbey. She was excellent in the role of the dowager Countess of Grantham, but it is the sort of part she can play in her sleep. Still, it's fun to see her nominated (and I wish Carson the butler had been, too -- but alas, no).

I read online that last night's midnight showings of DH2 (in the US) were the highest-grossing midnights ever -- $46 million, topping the previous midnight-showing record of $30 million (one of the Twilight films). Looks like DH2 might set some box-office records that will stand for a while.
