Good News, Bad News Edition
Mar. 30th, 2010 07:49 pmGood News: The conference paper is finished! More or less. I've done a first draft and a hasty revision, and now I'll let it sit for a bit before I read it aloud to find which sentences don't work for a listening audience. Then I'll make some changes, print it off, and basically be good to go. (I'm taking my computer with me, so if I decide to make multiple edits over the next few days, I can print off a clean copy at the hotel's business center.)
Bad News: My workspace is a disaster. I'm a person who hates clutter, and I'm surrounded by: loads of xeroxed sources / print-outs of downloads / tottering stacks of primary sources / wads of used kleenex / piles of empty Hall's cough drop wrappers / all the HP books / plate with chile/cheese tamale crumbs on it / tons of unsorted mail [who can sort mail with three fics and a paper to write?]
More Bad News: Yes, I'm sick. I started getting a scratchy throat on Saturday, and now I've reached the totally-stuffed-up and semi-feverish stage. Cough will be next (just in time for giving a presentation, of course).
Good News: I'm not nearly as sick as I was the year I went to another conference and got pneumonia and had to go to the hospital for a week.
Good News: I won this! For my story Minerva/Rita story Truth Beyond. (I also won "Runner Up" for my Minerva, Queen Elizabeth story Majesty, but I'm not putting in the banner, since it's massive.) A thousand thanks to whoever nominated me.
And congratulations to fellow flist winners

Bad News: None, really. I won a cool drippy-blood prize banner. What's to be bad?
Good News:
minerva_fest prompt posting starts Thursday.
Good News:
femmefest starts posting Thursday.
Good News:
hp_beholder and
springtime_gen coming soon.
Ran out of bad news. Damn. What's going to happen to my reputation as a cynical, negative whiner and/or panic-stricken, insecure fic whinger?
