Thanks for reading! What I objected to most in the film was not necessarily the idea that McG removed the Slytherins from the Hall -- as I tried to show here, she could have good reasons for that (and in the book, I think her actions are even more justified). But I didn't like Maggie Smith's line reading -- disdainful and dismissive. I wanted to provide some sort of context for that behavior -- maybe make it seem as if she was disdainful as a protective measure: people might be angry at the Slytherins, go after them, but if it looked as if they'd already been sorted out, then no one would have to go vigilante. McG could actually be protecting them.

Or at least, that's my version!
