Old People Recs!

The HP holiday fest season is one of my favorite fannish events, and I have good news and bad news about this year's incarnation. Bad news = most of the holiday fests are either finished or drawing to a close.

But the good new is that for the first time in rather a while, several have actually had quite a few entries featuring older characters.

So for the next couple of days, I'm going to spam you with some older-folks recs from the fests I've been following.

I'll start with [info]mini_fest, a holiday-themed event open to all HP pairings and gen. I have a soft spot for this comm, because it was one of the first holiday fests in which I participated, back in 2009. (I wrote Not a Present, a gen fic featuring Severus, Pomona, and Minerva.)

This year, three fun old-lady entries showed up, including two from prompts of mine. They're all short, quick reads:

And a Portrait in a Pear Tree (Minerva, portrait!Severus; G)
A warm and gentle friendship fic with some nice banter.

Savour the Good Things (Minerva, Severus; G)
Art and fic in one! A heartwarming Christmas story.

Taking the First Step (Rolanda/Irma; G)
I was delighted to see this prompt chosen. I'd asked for "Hooch/female -- Rolanda gets a Christmas gift that for once has nothing to do with brooms or Quidditch." The Mystery Author chose a wonderful rarepair and gives us sharp characterizations both Hooch and Pince -- with a bonus appearance of Minerva.

Ah! Thanks for these recs. Short and sweet was exactly what I needed.
