In a recent interview about Downton Abbey, MacLaine, who believes in reincarnation, was asked if she thought she and Maggie Smith had met in another life.

Replied MacLaine, "Well, we were lovers in another life."

I'm prepared to be annoyed by the plot lines (the classism and sexism of the overall writing bothers me), but I'm also prepared to enjoy the hell out of the Smith/MacLaine chemistry. (I get the impression they don't like each other, but dislike often creates as much acting mojo as attraction).
