Finally!!!

Boneless with relief. . .

And not only does Obama win, but Tim Kaine in Virginia (defeating George "Macaca" Allen), Claire McCaskill in Missouri (winning against the "legitimate rape" guy), Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts, Chris Murphy in Connecticut (defeating a seriously scary rich woman), Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin (first out lesbian in the Senate!!!) The Senate is safe.

Whew.

And Richard "GOP Rape Gaffe #372" Mourdock got defeated! I guess God intended that to happen, like rapes that result in pregnancy.

I don't even know how to articulate my feelings about Elizabeth Warren. I watched her victory speech several times last night as a kind of lullaby. I'm so in love.

And I'm so glad that Akin and Mourdock got their asses handed to them. My continuing disappointment with Obama's failures of leadership (as exemplified, to my mind, in his totally empty speech last night) has been entirely overridden by my sense that this election was a referendum against the misogynist hate-speech at the center of so many right-wing candidates' platforms. Hosannah in the highest, say I to that.
