More Holiday Fest Recs

We had a lovely, lazy Christmas, which means I had a chance to catch up on some fest reading. In the process, I received some wonderful Christmas gifts in the form of several of the best stories I've read in a long time. Treat yourselves to the following:

From [info]hoggywartyxmas, where literally every entry so far has been a gem:

Leaf by Leaf by Anonymous [livejournal.com profile] atdelphi (Irma Pince/Aberforth Dumbledore; G)
Five stars -- definitely one of my top three stories of the fest season. I adore this. Not only is it book!fic and library!fic (both of which I'm wild for), but it's written with insight and panache and with splendid characterization. I've got my thoughts about the identity of the Mystery Author (though as you know, I'm usually wrong), but no matter who wrote it, you need to read it.

How's this for an enticing line? Only a book could have brought her to the Hog's Head Inn, and perhaps only Ovid at that.

I am now officially declaring Irma/Aberforth as one of my OTP's.

Humbug by Anonymous [livejournal.com profile] therealsnape (Severus Snape, Filius Flitwick, assorted Hogwarts staff; PG-13)
I'm a sucker for good pastiches of A Christmas Carol, and here we have one of the best: a story in which Severus Scrooge Snape learns a little about how to give Christmas gifts. The author's wit just crackles; the writing here is clever indeed.

From [info]hp_holidaygen:

The Sacrifice of Right by Anonymous [livejournal.com profile] snorkackcatcher (Minerva McGonagall, Percy Weasley, Kingley Shacklebolt, assorted Ministry personnel, portraits, and goblins; PG-13)
Here's a crackerjack action story with expert characterizations, fine writing, and fun political insights. It's like the best of canon. Minerva and Percy work together to solve a scholastic mystery without destroying wizard-goblin relations. I just loved this fic.

(Dear [info]hp_holidaygen mods [in case you see this] -- Maybe next year you could post with just regular cuts instead of spoiler cuts? Reccers can only link to spoiler-cut entries by going in through the comments and then editing the URL; we can't just open the entry by clicking on the subject line. Not a big problem, of course, but just a little extra work.)

(My previous holiday fest recs are here and here and here.)
